can someone help me with this problum my 1995 golf 3 gl runs real good for about the first five minuts of running but after that it runs like shit and wont rev up and starts backfireing dose anybody know what could be rong or how to fix it

sounds like a bad sensor. Possible oxygen sensor? Possible temp sensor? Need to have it scanned and checked with a computer tester. Sounds like problem when engine goes into a closed loop cycle.

ive always been curious, i was told once not to run an engine on a toyota for example with no thermostat in as it might cause 'open loop', now i see above a closed loop is mentioned, what are they refering to ? thanks girardo
