OK help me out...
2003 Pilot, EX, bought new, 59000 K, serviced on a regular basis with the dealer -- no major complaints -- this is my 4th Honda. Recently, a flashing green light appeared in the "D" position on the indicator while driving. Taken to the dealer, apparently is the transmission fluid temperature sensor gone bad or going bad. So decision to replace it -- $62 -- with a hefty $150 labor charge due to the complexity of getting to the part itself.
Here's my question -- there was a recall recently relating to the transmission and the ?second gear? -- I had that service completed about 1 week prior to the flashing green light's appearance. Any chance the sensor could have been damaged during the recall inspection??

This same recall is for some Acura's as well. The second gear recall is when they inspection the second gear and install a jet kit to help lube it. The temp sensor is not touched during this service. There is a seperate service bulletin on the temp sensor, It is more concern about trouble removing a bad sensor. Sometimes the sensor will break and fall into the transmission. If this is the cause, they usually replace the tranmission. This sensor can be a pain to get to. Just a little added info there. Hope this helps.

Thanks Tech, Harper Acura,
Thanks for the information... so recently Honda Corporation announced an extension on the some Acura transmissions to 100,000K -- is this under the same recall??

this should be due to the second gear inspection.
