'04 Chevy Impala fuel pressure regulator

have an '04 chevy impala, 3.4L V6. There was a smell of gasoline and upon inspection realized the fuel pressure regulator was wet with gas. So purchased a new one and put it on, and was fine for a couple of weeks. Now, there is an odor of gas again, and the fuel (new) pressure regulator is wet with gas again....
any idea on what may be causing this???? is it possible i got a faulty part? could something else be causing too much pressure to cause the regulator to leak? i am stumped!

Could be a faulty part, but more likely something else is cause it to go bad. What is your fuel pressure?

smelly 04 impala

you might want to check the fuel return line going back to the fuel tank , it's possable that it may be partly blocked by a kink or somthing if that happens the fuel pressure can build up causing the regulator to go bad again so soon in a fuel injected vehicle the fuel recirculates back to the fuel tank and the regulator keeps pressure in control so that the injectors can get the right amount of fuel if that line is kinked it could be building to much pressure which could cause poor milage and performance as well, if youve noticed that then its good bet that the excess fuel is not getting back to the fuel tank like it should
