help
I am not a car guy at all, I need a little help or suggestions, I have a 1996 Xj6 Jaguar, when I try to start it, it seems to not turn the started, but I get a spining sound, I tune to key off try agin and it may take 4 or 5 trys before the statret trns the motor, any suggestions? If its a starter, issue, any suggestions on finding one on line? Re built? Any site you may suggest?

Check battery and connections first.
Sounds like abad starter though.

Most alternator rebuild shops will also rebuild starters. This is normally about half the price of an starter at an auto parts store.
If you can't find an alternator shop just about every auto parts store now offers you a choice of rebuild or new.

Sounds like the overruning clutch in the starter drive is bad.

Have the battery tested also. Heat kills a battery fast. The local car parts place should be able to test the battery in the car, to see if it still has enought cranking amps.

Jags need a good battery to start ,If you have a volt meter connect at the battery and try to start ,when turning the key to start check how high the
volts are should not drop below 9.6 volts if it does try another battery

Check the battery first and foremost. Then check also the engine itself if there's any defects on any car parts like clutch disks and the like...
